Utah Cyber Alliance Launches to Strengthen Cybersecurity Across Utah
The Utah Cyber Alliance (UCA) is a new 501(c)(6) trade association established to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities across Utah. Governed by an independent board, UCA provides a vendor-neutral platform for collaboration, education, and resource sharing for organizations of all sizes.
Our Mission
UCA exists to facilitate collaboration between government IT leaders, school district technology directors, businesses, cybersecurity vendors, and policy experts. Our goal is to build collective resilience against cyber threats while helping organizations navigate cybersecurity challenges and compliance requirements like HB 44 (formerly HB 42).
Why Now?
With the passage of Utah's School Cybersecurity Amendments (originally introduced as HB 42, now merged into HB 44), Utah's education sector faces new compliance requirements including:
- Adoption of a recognized cybersecurity framework
- Annual risk assessments
- Documented incident response plans
- Designated security personnel
- Annual reporting to USBE
Many school districts and charter schools, particularly smaller ones, lack the resources and expertise to meet these requirements alone. UCA provides the collaborative infrastructure and practical resources needed to help every Utah LEA achieve compliance.
What We Offer
For All Members (Free for Public Sector / $50/year Industry):
- Access to compliance guides, templates, and checklists
- Peer networking with fellow IT leaders and cybersecurity professionals
- Vendor-neutral guidance on cybersecurity solutions
- Event invitations and member discounts
- Full resource library access and newsletter updates
Sponsorship Opportunities:
- Tiered sponsorship: Premier ($1,500), Core ($1,000), and Contributor ($500)
- Year-round branding, booth space at events, and networking
- Vendor directory listing and newsletter features
- Credibility through association with a trusted organization
Our Governance
UCA is governed by an independent board to ensure our guidance remains vendor-neutral and focused on the public interest. Our tiered sponsorship model supports the organization while preserving complete editorial and programmatic independence. Harborcoat, a Utah-based cybersecurity VAR, serves as our founding sponsor.
